BOAT FOR SALE .............. KOTUKU

2/20 The Mall

Mt Maunganui

Tauranga 3116.      See Trademe  Listing #: 1830563290

Kotuku, as you know she was transported to Tauranga 3 years ago to spend some time in salt water. She is now to be offered for sale in the hope she is returned to her home waters of Lake Rotoiti. Kotuku is a 28' double diagonal kauri skinned launch built in 1923 by Robinson Bros of Rotorua. She has a long history as a Lake Rotoiti wooden launch and after 3 years in salt water she is to be sold in the hope she is returned to Lake Rotoiti.

Kotuku is to be lifted from the water at Bridge Marina, Tauranga, on Wednesday24th October for antifouling and maintenance. She will remain on the hard until Friday or Saturday 27th October. Alan Craig ( Craig Marine Ltd) is to survey her and complete any maintenance, whilst antifoul and propspeed are renewed. Interested parties are welcome to inspect Kotuku during that time, by
arrangement with myself (027 244 8737) or Alan ( 021 022 05574). Be aware the hardstand has strict H & S rules, hence we need advance notice.

Following her return to water, Kotuku will be offered for sale on TradeMe in November if not sold before. Kotuku's history is well documented on the woodenboatparade website, she is now 95 years old and we are keen to see her remain a part of the history of Lake Rotoiti.

Length 36 ft.  Beam - not much. Carvel planked and believed built 1910.
Currently on the hard in Auckland, upside down and mostly under cover.
Cabin and decks removed, in storage with boat. Complete with propshaft, tube and prop and rudder. Internal jackshaft missing.
Fordson Major 60 hp diesel and Parsons box currently in separate storage. Heat exchanger has a leak. With water cooled dry stack exhaust manifold.
Heavy wide gunnels are probably a later addition.
An historian says the original name may be carved into the forward top plank. Believed to be "Princess", built in St Marys Bay. Gunnels not removed yet as they are helping hold the shape.
Engine was rebuilt with bearings, pistons, rings and valve grind before coming ashore and did very few hours. Has been run several times ashore.
She was hauled out for a complete refit and rebuild which has not happened.
Due to changed circumstances she must now go to someone else who can do it.
Pictures are of Isabellamary as she is and one shortly before she came out.
She is for sale with rent paid to the yard to the end of the month of sale.
Price includes motor, box, and other parts listed.
Could be sold without motor and gearbox. Price $1600 including engine and box, as is where is.
