'Mandalay' was built in
Auckland, but put into dry storage during WW2, where she stayed until 1986.
She was then purchased and restored by Dave Jackson at Northcote and
recommissioned by ex dockyard shipwright Jeff Cook.
'Mandalay' is a charming and much admired traditional craft in excellent
condition, currently on the marina at Tokaanu on Lake Taupo.
Construction: 'Mandalay' is built with full length planks, edge fitted and
riveted to ribs without caulking. Glass over ply decks.
4 berths. Under 2 litres per hour cruising at 6 knots.
Engine: Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel situated towards the front under
the forward double berth.
This leaves the interior cabin area & settee berths open & uncluttered.
Trailer: A unique feature with 'Mandalay' is a purpose built galvanised
single axle road trailer with extending draw bar for launching & retrieval.
Trailer is registered.
Interior squabs are in good condition with new cockpit squabs last season.
Cockpit/dodger has removable covers for
day sailing and an additional waterproof cover. New anchor warp & chain,
danforth & CQR style anchor.
'Mandalay' is an ideal lake or coastal vessel and having a purpose build trailer
makes her quite unique.
$22,000 (or near offer) for 'Mandalay' complete with trailer.

Open to offers as I have no idea what its worth. Its in reasonable condition for a restorer, i.e. I'm pretty sure it would float. Its been stored under cover off the grass since I have had it, 3-4 years. Its about 4-4.5m long I would guess. Its located at Okere Falls and can be viewed by contacting Stefan on 3624252

WANTED.
I am looking for a restoration project boat up to 18ft ideally, though a larger
boat might be considered. I would prefer a planing hull (as in addition to
general family fun on the water I would like to teach my children to waterski)
but semi-planing could also be considered. Of paramount importance is safety, so
the hull design and construction should provide good seagoing capabilities once
finished.
Our finances are very limited, so I was hoping for a low-cost hull that could be
restored over time in a simple style reminiscent of Chris Craft or Riva
runabouts. The boat I am looking for is probably sitting in a shed or in the
corner of a property under a sagging tarpaulin somewhere, slowly returning to
the earth - waiting for some care and attention to return her to glory. I cannot
afford to pay a lot of money, but I can promise the boat will go to a good home
- to live on in regular use and become a legacy to leave my children.
Please call Tara on 04 3838956, Mobile 0275745087 (text me and I will be happy
to call you back)

A most unusual boat for New Zealand. This is a Paul Selway design
from the UK which he describes as "based upon the 'V' bottomed skiffs which were
used on the Atlantic Coast side of the Virginian Eastern shore for tonging and
crabbing. These boats were distinctive, with their well flared sides, beamy hull
and well raked straight stem and they had a reputation for speed and
seaworthiness". Built in 2006 by an artist and a skilled joiner for a project
commissioned by Te Papa Tongarewa, this lovely little boat sat as an art work on
the rooftop of our national museum and is now being sold for a future life - as
a boat! Sailed only once earlier this year at the Plimmerton Classic Boats
festival, otherwise largely as-new (weathering has occurred on seating). All
timbers used in construction are sustainable - the hull is 7mm Hoop Pine plywood
and glass over ply frames. Seating is Maple, skeg and gunwales American White
Oak. Macrocarpa and Douglas Fir also used. Half decked giving plenty of dry
stowage space and a lot of reserve buoyancy. A steel centreplate is used and is
a Gaff rig. Could take a cuddy and sleeping on board is a definite possibility.
LOD 16'1" (4.9m); Beam 6'5" (1.95m); Draft 1'1" and 3' (.33m and .91m); Sail
Area 150 sq.ft. (13.9 sq.m). Weight is around 650 lbs. (295 kg.). This is a
reluctant, but philosophical, sale as circumstances and practicalities now
require locating a new owner. On the market for purely genuine reasons and will
sell to the right person. No trailer or outboard. View in Plimmerton,
Wellington. Can supply references for seaworthiness and performance. $7000

WHIZZ SKI GALORE IS FOR SALE
